Eight Hour Studio was founded by Sonia Padam and inspired by her multicultural upbringing and travels throughout India. The luxurious sleepwear collection’s name was born in two parts; “Eight Hour” referring to the recommended nights sleep, and “Studio” referring to a space of creativity. With an ethos that encapsulated the concepts of local yet global, social responsibility and environmental awareness, 8HS use only 100% GOTS certified organic cotton fabric and work with artisans who are employed under Fair Trade standards. All garments are made using a traditional hand block printing technique in Jaipur, India, a craft that is struggling to stay alive thanks to the fast fashion movement and the large manufacturing plants that come with it. Each pattern and colour requires a unique block for printing, and these are all made by hand by talented local printers who understand the craft in great detail.
